It’s Maintenance Season

With winter right around the corner, fall is the perfect time to perform routine maintenance on your vehicle. Tuning up your engine with new spark plugs, topping off fluids, and replacing worn wiper blades and dim headlights are just some of the ways you can prepare for the change of the season. • Spark Plugs and Plug Wires – Misfires and decreased fuel economy are some of the reasons to replace your spark plugs and spark plug wires.
  • Cap and Rotor – Check for cracks in the plastic or corrosion on metals. Cracks allow moisture to form and could cause misfiring.
  • Oil and Oil Filter – Change the oil and replace the oil filter.
  • Air Filter – If the air filter is damaged or dirty, replace it to keep air flowing and ensure maximum fuel efficiency.
  • Fuel Filter – Keep fuel flowing freely to the engine with a new fuel filter.
  • Fluids – Check and top off the fluids under the hood, if necessary.
  • Tire Pressure – Use a tire pressure gauge to ensure that your vehicle’s tire pressure is up to standards. Refer to your vehicle manual for the correct pressure.
  • Wiper Blades – The hot summer sun can damage wiper blades very quickly. You will want to replace them if you see any cracking, drying or flaking.
  • Lights – With the days getting darker earlier this time of year, check all lights including your headlight bulbs, taillight bulbs and fuses. If you discover your headlight bulbs are looking dim, it might be time to replace them.
  • Battery & Accessories – Make sure the cables and terminals are free of dirt and corrosion. Stop by your local O’Reilly Auto Parts store and have your battery tested to help ensure it won’t leave you stranded.
