Pre-Purchase Inspections & Car Health Checkups

Pre-Purchase Inspections & Car Health Checkups

Before the Used Vehicle Purchase

Before you purchase a used car, you should always have it inspected by an ASE Certified Mechanic.  Vehicles that you test drive, and visually inspect may still have hidden issues only detectable to an experienced eye.   For example, flood damage might not always be evident.

Inspections Aren't Just for Used Cars - Health Checkups for Your Current Car Are Important Too!

A vehicle you have owned for some time, may seem to be running just fine, until that inconvenient time that it suddenly breaks down. Periodic ‘health checkups’ and inspections, help catch those issues before they get too big. Consider scheduling seasonal, or bi-annual ‘regular checkups’ for your daily-driver. At Seeburg, we like helping our customers plan their repairs on your schedule – instead of letting your car dictate when to have things done!

Yes. We call it a ‘checkup’ or ‘complete vehicle inspection’. Just like your body, every vehicle should have periodic check-ups for it’s health.

Doing this allows you to catch problems before they become big headaches. It also allows you to create future plans for upcoming problems.

When used properly, these types of periodic inspections can help you make sure repairs happen when you want them to. This helps prevent those breakdowns that always seem to occur at the worst possible time.

Some states have lemon laws that allow purchasers of used vehicles to get a refund or a cure of their problems within 30 days of purchase. Unfortunately, Arkansas does not. That’s why it’s so important to have a qualified ASE Certified Mechanic to inspect the vehicle before purchase.

The immediate reaction might be to drop the car off to the seller and move on, but you actually should consider negotiating the price.  You should get an estimate of the services that it takes to bring the vehicle to high performance levels.  Then you can ask the seller to make all the repairs or reduce the selling price by the amount of the estimate.  One word of caution:  if the inspector finds that the vehicle has been poorly maintained (for example, all the fluids are dark and contaminated), you should consider not buying the vehicle.

Seeburg Service Center has ASE Certified Mechanics who will make every effort to guide you in the right direction when considering a used vehicle purchase.
